Emotional Eating, Struggling with Food Addictions.
What do emotions and health have to do with each other? A lot. Our emotions play such a crucial role in how we form and maintain our eating habits, and therefore our health. We adapt to certain patterns in order to protect ourselves from our painful feelings. Food choices can become one of the ways we “avoid” what is really going on. Compulsions and food addictions can come into play and we are stuck in a daily struggle. Disordered eating, binging and patterns of binge eating can become eating disorders. Either way it is a daily struggle we would rather be without. Self-care is missing and in the void we instead practice self-discare with emotional food choices, which can even lead to disease.
For us to truly change our ways, heal ourselves, and become whole, we need to incorporate our emotional well-being and patterns. If not, changing eating and self-care habits will always be a struggle. Our emotional stress affects us daily and therefore our daily choices.
We cannot “just get a grip” as we tend to tell ourselves. The psychology of eating is complex and it is a process of unraveling our ingrained habits as they relate to and depend on our emotions. Therefore Path for Life is a process of exploration and discovery, building awareness, and creating new ways to self-soothe. It is a gentle process of waking up to ourselves by seeing, learning, listening, and relating to our emotions in a compassionate and supportive way. Taking one step at a time for change, we can feel safe exploring what is holding us back from living our full healthy potential.
Healing our relationship with food requires a deep look within, an awareness to our emotions and an understanding for a bigger picture of our life. We often ask ourselves how to stop emotional eating.
Food and mood is tightly related. During the program you will learn how food affects your emotions and what your hunger is really telling you. We never do know what comes first. “The chicken or the egg,” so to speak. The emotion or the food choice. We deal with both and you learn how to make choices that support your mood, emotions, and energy. We teach you how you can change feelings of depression, low self-esteem, and lack of motivation with food and life-style choices. We work from a perspective of positive eating. One that allows you to find the joy in food and eating rather than deprivation.
We help you through your food addictions and eating disorders. We help you shift your emotional habits to a more centered and balanced awareness where you can work with your patterns in a constructive and supported way. We teach you how food can make you feel and how it can help you feel different. We guide you through an exploration of your inner world to come to a peaceful place with Self where you can live life with more joy and freedom from what used to keep you trapped. We help you see and find solutions for a new integrated way of living – and eating.
Transform unhealthy habits into new behaviors that make you healthier with both counseling and hypno-therapy as a therapeutic option as well.
