the stress issue

Want to Lose Weight... What does Stress have to do with it?
well - a lot actually -

We all experience stress - and we have pretty much accepted stress as part of our modern life.

Chronic stress has shown to be related in up to 80% of most illness. Stress is the outcome of the speed with which we “do life”. Where are we so busy getting to, that this moment does not count? The next moment? Are we mastering our life or are we just hanging on? For sure we are also stressed from the environment we live in, our de-natured food, and the relationships we have. Can we do anything about it? Yes!

Do you want to change your speed is the question! Maybe this will make you change your mind.

Want more energy and lose weight? Or just better health? Stress may be the culprit if you cannot loose weight. This is why !

Stress is a very old phenomena. It just used to be under different circumstances. Some animal was running after us. Or we could not find food. Today our bodies are still conditioned to cope with danger. The body-response to stress is the same.

When stressing our Cortisol level goes up (known as the stress hormone) and all kinds of stuff starts happening to our bodies : Increased blood sugar levels, break-down of muscle protein, our metabolism slows down, and the body stores fat instead of burning it as energy. This is all part of our body’s survival response and it served us very well back then, as it does now when we need to be “in action”. It is however not healthy to be in this condition constantly = chronic stress.

Now what can you do about this ? SLOW DOWN !

Slow down and increase your metabolism.

It is important to realize that all in nature has a rhythm, and so do we as human beings. Sometimes we just get to be too much human doings instead. We forget that we too are part of this universal rhythm and our body functions are designed to be in this rhythm. The skipping of meals. Eating on the run or while multi-tasking. Eating too much too late at night because there is finally time and food - sounds familiar ? Well, then bloating, gas pains, uncontrollable weight issues, low energy, cravings, and irritability probably sounds familiar too.

Try to Slow Down and Self-Nourish at least for your meals. Breathe while you eat, chew well, pay attention to your food during eating, make sure your body needs to digest only your food; which means - stop the TV-dinners = you have to digest more than your food. It is interesting to note, that a lot of gastrointestinal problems have been seen to lessen or clear up after just days of eating mindfully !

Obviously the quality of your food does matter, but how you eat matters just as much as what you eat.

HOW YOU DO FOOD IS HOW YOU DO YOUR LIFE !
