SPECIAL HEALTH ALERT : THE HEAT ISSUE
HOW TO BETTER DEAL WITH THE HEAT

IT IS SUPER HOT - CHOOSE DRINKS THAT HELP YOU COOL DOWN.

THE COOL LIQUID CHOICES:
You know to hydrate - just do it.

But - It is also important to avoid drinks that are both diuretic (dehydrating) and heating: Coffee, Alcohol, and high Sugar drinks like Soda.

Add Lemon to your water - it helps you cool down. Or have Lemonade.

Chilled Mint Water and Iced Mint Tea is refreshing and cooling. So is Berry Tea.

COOLING FOOD CHOICES :

Veggie Choices: Avocado, Alfalfa Sprouts, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Cucumber, Celery, Tofu and Soy products, Spinach, Summer Squash Lettuce, Radishes, Tomatoes, Peas, Potatoes, and Yoghurt. Seaweed such as Kelp. Fresh Ginger and Cilantro.

Grain: Barley, Millet, Buckwheat, and Soba-noodles.

Fruit Choices: Apples, Strawberries, Grapefruit, Oranges, Pears, Plums, Tangerines, Lemons and Lime, Watermelon.

And: Crab and clams.

Raw food, a brief boil, or steam are more cooling cooking methods.

In general the green, blue, and darker purple foods are more cooling than red, orange, and yellow foods. That means - a green apple is more cooling than a red apple.

CHOICES THAT HEAT YOU UP:

AND YOU DO BEST AVOIDING THESE CHOICES FOR THE HOT DAYS:

Vegetables and herbs: Artichoke, Cayenne and Chilli Peppers, Cinnamon, Corn, Garlic, dry Ginger, Kale, Onion, Winter Squash, Mustard and Mustard greens.

Fruit: Apricots, Cherries, Grapes, Mango, Peaches, Mushrooms, Lentils.

And: Butter, Nuts, Cheese, Chicken, Eggs, Most Meat and Fish, Mussels, Shrimp, Vinegar, Honey, Salt, Sugar, Alcohol, and Coffee -even iced.

Roasting, frying, and stir-frying are more "heating" cooking methods.
