Restaurant Guide:
Eat Well, Be Social, and Pamper Your Self:
Eat-Well and Healthy and go out? That is important for our daily well-being.
How do we choose a place that fits our health intentions for ourselves and allows us to be social and accepted by friends for our food choices?
Here are some healthy places and some that are Gourmet Restaurants, but also supporting Sustainable Local-Fresh-Food :

New York City and close to it (Brooklyn)

Angelica Kitchen: 300 East 12th street, by 2nd ave. Great vegan food.
Bonobo’s: 18 East  23rd St. Raw food. Casual eat in or take out.
Counter: 105 First Ave. 212 982 5870
Candle Café: 79th St. and Lexington and 3rd ave by 76th.
Caravan of Dreams: 406 East 6th St. 212 254 1613
Dressler, 149 Broadway in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. 718-384-6343. European bistro and great food, especially the fish.
Gobo: Vegetarian and nice, 401 6th Ave. 212-255-3242
Hearth: 403 East 12th St. 646 602 1300. Great food from farm sources. You can always ask them to cook in olive oil only and omit the butter.
ICI-Restaurant, 246 DeKalb avenue in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. 718-789-2778. This is my favorite local place. They cook slowfood, and good food. Not to mention, the place feels both causal and dressed up enough to be a great hang-out with friends or a special dinner date.
Le Pain Quotidien: great soups and organic food (several locations in town)
Mas (farmhouse) Local and sustainable Food a la Gourmet, and expensive: 39 Downing St. 212 255 1790
Organic Avenue, a raw food store on 101 Stanton street.
Pure Food and Wine: 54 Irving Pl. 212 477 1010 or try their take out around the corner.
Pylos: 128 East 7th St. 212 473 0220. Gourmet greek food.
Quartino Bottega Organica: 11 Bleeker, 212-529-5133. Organic wholesome pasta and the only "healthyish" pizza I have been able to find. But you can also go for their daily fresh fish.
Savoy: Wonderful sustainable food, great little lunch platter.
Souen: 2 locations — 210 6th Ave. in Soho and 28 East 13th St., by Union Square. Healthy food and macrobiotic cuisine.
The Tasting Room in NYC: A new location, but the same amazing sustainable and mostly locally farmed food. The orginal location is for a lighter fare. This is one of my favorite self-nourishing choices for an excellent dinner. 212 358 7831
Wawa Canteen: 289 Mercer St. 212 473 6162. Healthy and good, inexpensive slow cooked but fast served korean food. Eat in, take out, or delivery.
Thé Adoré: Great little tea place, 17 East 13th St. 212 243 8742
